Today we are making a famous and refreshing recipe Vegan Chai Latte
Chai latte is the modified form of masala chai that originated from the Indian subcontinent. Chai latte is the spiced flavored beverage cooked with spices and brewing black tea.
This delicious beverage has worldwide popularity, and many coffee and tea houses proudly feature it in their menus. This Vegan Chai (Tea) latte(with soy milk) is a healthy drink for every season. You can have it as evening tea or whenever you want.
The goodness of cinnamon help to boost your metabolism, so it is a healthy substitute for a coffee as some people are not fond of having coffee.
Ingredients for Vegan Chai Tea Latte
Soy Milk – 1 and Half Cup
Water – 1 Cup
Cardamom – 2
Cloves – 2
Star Anise – 1
Black Pepper – 4
Cardamom Powder – Half Teaspoon
Cinnamon Powder – 1 Teaspoon
Turmeric Powder – 1/3rd Teaspoon
Tea Leaves – 1 Tablespoon
Agave Syrup – 1 Tablespoon
Frothy Milk (Soy)– 1/3 Cup
You can use either the powdered or whole spices, it is completely up to you
To a bowl add 1 cup of water, I am using the same cup in which I'll be pouring the chai latte later so you can have the measurements as per your cup.
Heat the water and wait till you see big bubbles coming from the water. Basically wait till it starts to boil once you see big bubbles forming in water, add one tablespoon of dry tea leaves and if you do not have dry tea leaves handy go ahead and use two tea bags since we are making the chai latte for two.
Let it heat for two to three minutes over medium or high heat, you will see the tea leaves will start to leave such an amazing color to the water. Now it's time to add the whole and powdered spices.
Stir everything and allow the essence of the powdered spices and whole spices to diffuse with tea water for two to three minutes over medium heat and at this point go ahead and add one and a half cup of milk.
If you prefer a strong chai tea latte you can reduce the quantity of milk and you can use equal portions of water to the milk.
Now for sweetener I am using one tablespoon of agave syrup you can replace it with any plant-based sugar or maple syrup and if you prefer more sweet use two tablespoons of agave syrup.
Ti latte to come to a boil then turn the heat to low and let it simmer for a minute or two.
Then switch off the heat and towards the final step I have taken one third cup of milk I am using soy milk
Add it to the blender and now we are going to make it frothy if you like you can add one teaspoon of plant-based sugar to it. Now pour the hot chai tea latte to the cup using a filter don't fill it entirely and leave some space for the frothy milk. Adding the frothy milk to the chai latte is completely optional
Finally some touch of powdered cinnamon, which is again optional. The vegan chai latte is ready and so easy.
