Today we are making Vegan Sandwich Bread with just 6 ingredients. This Homemade bread is easy to prepare and healthier too and turns out softer and so fluffy. It is easy to prepare this at home & healthy too.
Ingredients for Vegan Sandwich Bread
Ingredients for Yeast water
Luke warm water – 100 ml
Vegan Sugar – 1 tablespoon
Dry Yeast – 1 teaspoon
Ingredients for Dough
All-purpose flour – 300 grams
Salt – Half teaspoon
Yeast water – 50-60 ml
Plant based milk – 50 ml
Vegan Butter – 1 tablespoon
Step 1 :
Let’s start by activating the yeast, in a bowl, take 100 ml of lukewarm water, and then add 1 tablespoon of sugar, mix the sugar till it dissolves in the water. Add one teaspoon of dry yeast, the yeast will feed on the sugar which will help it to get activated. Watch the fast forwarded version of yeast activation process, it will look something like this. This process may take around 15 minutes.
Step 2 :
To a bigger bowl, add 300 grams of all-purpose flour, add half teaspoon of salt, then add the yeast water to the pan gradually.
Do not add the yeast water all together as it might make the dough watery, then add around 50 ml of plant based milk, 1 tablespoon of vegan butter and mix everything. You may increase or decrease the quantity of water in the dough as per your own requirement. Now it’s time to get your hands dirty. We are going to knead the dough till it’s well done. It took me around 10-12 minutes. Taking it out on a flatter surface to knead. You will always know when the dough is done right.
Once the dough is done, roll it in a ball shape and place it back into the nicely greased bowl.
Step 3 :
Now cover the bowl with a wet towel or plastic film and let it rest and rise for 1-2 hours or until it’s doubled in size. After 2 hours, remove the plastic film, the dough is soft and fluffy. Place the dough back on a flatter surface, sprinkle some dry flour on the dough, also on the base of the surface so the dough doesn’t stick.
With the help of a rolling pin start rolling it out in a rough rectangular shape, try to roll it out as evenly as possible.
Once the dough is rolled out, start rolling it into a cylindrical shape and even out all the corners.
Take a greased bread pan, place the dough in the pan and again cover it with a wet towel or a plastic wrap. Let this rise for another 1 hour.
After 1 hour you will see that the dough has risen.
At this point place the pan in a preheated oven for 35-40 minutes over 180 C. After 40 minutes, take out the pan and the bread is cooked to perfection. Remove the bread from the pan. This step is important because it will stop the further cooking process also the base of the bread might get soggy.
Be careful while doing this step as both the pan and bread are super-hot. Place the bread on a grill so it’s airy and helps the bread to cool down completely. I know how hard it is to resist but trust me it will be worth it. Once it’s cool down, Slice the bread and serve. Sandwich breads are generally more uniform in texture and lacks large holes, so that spreads like mayo or mustard stay inside the bread and your hands don’t get dirty. See how soft and fluffy it is.
